The road from Tangier to Chefchaouen is fully paved and in good condition. While it includes mountain curves and elevation changes, our chauffeurs are highly experienced on this route and drive with the appropriate care. The scenery makes the mountain driving part of the experience.
This route is beautiful year-round. Spring brings wildflowers to the mountain slopes, summer offers lush green forests, autumn provides golden light, and winter can dust the highest peaks with snow. Each season gives the Rif Mountains a different character.
While a same-day return is possible, we recommend at least one night in Chefchaouen to explore the medina properly. If you prefer a day trip, an early departure from Tangier allows several hours in the blue city before the return drive.
